What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Natural Leader offers leadership learning through horsemanship activities. We partner people with a horse to help them learn about themselves, their presence and communication style, and how that impacts those around them.
Tell us about yourself
My horses. I always wanted to do something with horses when I grew up; it just took me a while to figure out what that looked like. It was a horse that taught me that being a good project manager was about leading people, inspiring them, and having them bring out the best in themselves. I couldn't motivate anyone to do anything; people need to find it in themselves!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Learning about myself! What I am good at and expanding that footprint. Doing a TEDTalk was pretty high up there.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Remaining optimistic when things are slow. Change will always come.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know what it is you want to do - be razor focused -clearly define your audience, and market to them.
- Make time for yourself. What was it that got you into this area of business? Make time for the part of it you love doing.
- You cannot be everything to everyone - so if you need to refer a prospect to someone else, do it.
