What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an integrative wellness and primary care practice specializing in weight management, hormone optimization, and noninvasive aesthetics. Most often, our clients come to us after feeling unheard in the traditional healthcare setting. They're ready to make a change in their overall wellness and want to feel and look their best.

Tell us about yourself

I am a board-certified nurse practitioner and the owner of Kingdom Wellness & Family Health. The clinic started as a dream that everyone would have access to affordable, exceptional care. After working in the healthcare system and recognizing its pitfalls, I wanted to make a change for the better.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner is seeing the difference we are making in people's lives. Business ownership, from conceptualization to actualization, can be a rough road to walk. You're constantly asking yourself, "is this going to work?" "how can I continue to provide excellent service?". When referring to a healthcare clinic, the proof is in the pudding when my clients feel heard and their overall wellness is improving.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I would say the single hardest aspect of being a business owner is finding a work-life balance. I have three children at home, so finding that balance is imperative. I've found that setting healthy boundaries and sticking to them is important.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just do it. Don't let analysis paralysis stop you in your tracks. Starting a business can be overwhelming. First, do some research on if the service you want to provide is needed. Then, find a mentor—someone who has gone before you and can help guide and reassure you. And finally, market, market, market. I feel like the word marketing gets a bad rap, but the reality is people don't know what you have to offer if they don't know you exist.
