Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and professional development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nadine Hanchar, Founder of Progressive Edge Plus NLP Inc., located in Victoria, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Progressive Edge Plus NLP Inc. is my business. As a Counsellor, Consultant, and Facilitator since 1986, I have taught most of the therapies and techniques I use. Proficient in a wide range of modalities and disciplines, I specialize in working with relationship issues, communication, trauma, and abuse. Instead of the client having to fit the therapeutic tool, I am using an approach that can include many types of traditional and non-traditional methodologies; therefore, the therapy is designed to fit the client. My mission is to assist the person, couple, family, or organization in going forward with a better quality of life.

Tell us about yourself

Curious about humanity from a very early age, I have always had a keen interest in people, which led me to the profession of personal growth in the 1970s. To me, people are rich and layered, and they fascinate me. When we accept ourselves, we create empowerment. Freedom is gained when we accept others for who they are, and happiness results from acknowledging that we are all worthy of respect. I believe that our differences make us stronger, and our collaborative contributions innovate and build better, stronger organizations, more solid and trusting relationships, and diverse and growing communities that promote a more enlightened world. I dream that we will live in a world where people are valued, respected, and accepted for who they are, no matter their culture, religion, country, sexual preference, financial situation, education, or gender. I dream of living in a world filled with love, unity, compassion, and joy.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I am the Developer of The PEP Personality Process is a tool that assists us in having better relationships with ourselves and others. Understanding our PEP Personality Process gives us insights concerning our tendencies and those of others. It assists us in better knowing ourselves and understanding others, communicating more effectively, appreciating our differences, and better accepting each other.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing is knowing if it's meant to be; it's up to me, as the saying goes! As an entrepreneur, you are always making changes and improvements. For instance, I was an in-person service until 2020 when overnight I had to take my business online; big learning curve! It has opened up many new ways of doing business for me. Now I do both.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be open to and embrace change and take calculated risks!
  2. Delegate the tasks that take you away from your genius; you do not have to do it all.
  3. Continue to learn and grow always, as a person, in skill sets, and in life!
