What's your business, and who are your customers?

MyWine+ (MyWinePlus.com), founded in 2005, is a Los Angeles-based online retailer of premium quality wines. Our wines are selected by a team of expert buyers who taste a lot of wines before they make their selection. We only offer wines to our customers that we like and enjoy drinking with our friends and family. We offer a fine selection of wines from some of the most highly regarded appellations in California, Italy, France, Spain, and Armenia. We also strive to provide friendly customer service, quick checkout, and fast delivery that helps you shop online with confidence while making every effort to make your shopping online a pleasure with the added convenience of having it delivered to your doorstep.

Tell us about yourself

A lawyer by training, Stepan had a passion for wine and started the wine importation and distribution company in 2005, which became myWine+, a Los Angeles-based online retailer of premium quality wines. Stepan loves great wines and discovering new wines and new wine regions. “I love the hunt to bring hard-to-find wines from established classic wine regions like Bordeaux, Tuscany, and Napa, as well as discovering new regions, such as Armenia.” Stepan Baghdassarian In 2010, Stepan saw the renaissance of quality winemaking in Armenia and started the WinesofArmenia.com platform to import and market quality wines from Armenia and to provide a distribution channel in the United States to many small wineries in Armenia that were making fantastic wines and needed to tell their stories and sell their wines to the outside world. And now, myWine+ is the largest retailer of premium Armenian wines in the United States.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Setting myWine+ as a premier online wine retailer and WinesofArmenia.com as the retailer with the largest selection of Armenian wines in the U.S.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The buck stops with me. I am responsible to the employees and to the customers.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  3. Set up proper systems for growth.
