Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Martina Weifenbach, CEO and co-founder of myndway, located in Berlin, Germany.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company is called myndway and focuses on mindfulness, innovation, and new work. It offers training around those topics to mostly corporate companies.

Tell us about yourself

Mindfulness changed my life. It made me more content, happier, healthier, and more creative. Those effects of mindfulness intrigued me. My curiosity led me to start researching mindfulness, its effects on the brain, and how it actually affects the body. What I found was so fascinating that I wanted to share mindfulness more - esp. in the workplace. Hence, I developed the approach of "Mindful Innovation," which combines mindfulness techniques to support resilience, empathy, creativity, and inner change. I wrote a book about the topic, founded my firm myndway, and have been very honoured to carry forward the aforementioned approach in our training.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When I see content, happy and grateful faces of customers who tell me, "This training should be for everyone!" I have the feeling that I am doing something right.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Uncertainty. In the early phases of starting a company, you are constantly confronted with uncertainty. People doubt what you do, customers take a long time to decide, and you have to figure out how to sell your product in a way that feels good and honest to you. Mindfulness helped me to deal with uncertainty and to recenter. But entrepreneurship is not always a piece of cake, and as a founder, you really have to watch your candle in order for it to keep shining.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Give yourself at least 2-3 years to test your initial hypothesis.
  2. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and your idea.
  3. Enjoy the little successes every day and remind yourself of them in challenging moments.
  4. Love what you do! Always.
