What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is to help foreign investors come or transfer their business to Canada. I help foreign business people tailor services, starting from registering their business in Toronto and ending running their business in Canada for the first three years until the owner moves to Toronto and fully integrates into Canadian society.

Tell us about yourself

I was born in Uzbekistan and did my master's in the USA - International Business Management, where I learned how globalization helps nations to develop. From there, I came to the idea to open my consulting company, which will focus on bringing more investors to Canada. My strongest motivation is seeing how my hard work brings prosperity to my clients and to Canada.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far is to help foreign investors start and establish their businesses in Toronto, which generated so far about one and a half million dollars in the first two years.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time. There is not enough time for my family. Being self-employed means working 24/7. It isn't easy when you just start working without any background and financial stability until you reach the top.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Reputation is the key. Always keep your reputation clean, as people trust the brand due to its reputation.
  2. Time is money, don't start a "free trial" or "free service" as people don't acknowledge your favours as people ought to think you owe them.
  3. Money first - never use your funds to sponsor or make a payment on behalf of the client, as clients may change their minds, but you, as a consultant, have to cover paid expenses.
