A Passion for Mental Health - My Little Therapy Box
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Natasha Page, Founder of My Little Therapy Box, located in Nottingham, England.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
The My Little Therapy Box resource was created by me after I observed some clients struggling to open up in the early stages of therapy. Some clients also struggle to articulate their feelings in words. So, I created My Little Therapy Box to help people in or out of therapy explore their mental health in an accessible way and to start or have more meaningful conversations around mental health.
I help therapists/mental health-related professionals such as social workers, teachers, and psychologists to utilize creative ways to support our clients. My Little Therapy Box also makes it easier for people to talk to one another about their mental health. We also provide resources and online training courses. The My Little Therapy Box resource has helped thousands of people from all around the world.
Tell us about yourself
My journey to becoming a Counsellor/Psychotherapist started when I was in my early 20s. I, like many of the clients I now work with, went through a period of low mood/depression to the point where one day, I didn't even want to face going to work. Now I get to help others, and that is such a rewarding feeling; my face-to-face work is rewarding but knowing I have created a product means I can help even more people without even meeting them, and that is an amazing feeling.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating my own product is my biggest accomplishment so far. But I also feel that just taking the leap of faith into entrepreneurship is also another big accomplishment. Not everybody dares to take the leap of faith and start their own business. I fully committed to this when I left my secure local government job. It was very scary but so exciting, and I don't regret it at all. I am so happy to be running a meaningful business that also gives me the freedom to balance my work, family life, and earning potential.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Those things take time. I am impatient (laugh), and I wanted it all yesterday. If you like me, that can be hard in business sometimes. Another thing is that you have to be persistent, and you have to be prepared to be in this for the long haul. You have to create your own boundaries because you can work 24/7 when you work for yourself. This means you have to be in control of figuring out a balance that works for you.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Set realistic goals to achieve in your business (one step at a time).
- Get help and advice from other business owners/coaches.
- To look after your own well-being and make time for self-care also to be able to recognize when you need to pause or slow down.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I would love for other business owners to connect with me. I have an interest in working with business owners and their mental health, so please contact me on my socials, or if you want to have therapy with me, feel free to contact me; my email is info@mylittletherapybox.com.
