What's your business, and who are your customers?
My Happy Cabaña is a lifestyle brand that embodies an effortless chic, fun, and timeless feel. Created & curated by long-term friends and our passion for the endless summer feeling. Clothing that is designed by us with fun prints and creativity in mind. Accessories that are carefully scouted around the globe, with sustainability and uniqueness in mind to find that one-of-a-kind treasure for our customers. We want to transport them to a happy place and bring color and joy into their life and closet.
Tell us about yourself
I am from Rio de Janeiro, so I'm naturally drawn to beauty, simplicity, and a tropical lifestyle; it's in my DNA. I started my career designing swimwear in California and also dipped my feet in personal styling, but my passion has always really been in designing apparel, especially dresses. My motivation when designing our collections is merging style with comfort. I recognize that our customer will not wear something she doesn't ultimately feel comfortable and confident in. So I aim to merge amazing bright and unique prints with a somewhat simple and flowy silhouette, so it isn't over the top and can be worn from beach to bar!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment with My Happy Cabaña is that we've become this brand that people recognize and appreciate for our authenticity, our style, and our personalities. We've had such luck to be working alongside other incredible women-owned businesses here in Miami, women who support one another, and we all want each other to succeed.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The most challenging thing about owning a business is that you're constantly in it, day, night, and weekend, so it's important that you love what you do. There's no real break.
To see someone walk past me with one of our dresses or a post on social media in which someone tagged us is truly the most rewarding thing and makes it all worth it!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My biggest tip is to be authentic. Don't try to imitate what some other business is doing. Find your own DNA and stick with it.
