Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mark Vinch, Owner and Founder of MVP, located in Mount Holly, NJ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
On the surface, we are a nutrition and fitness coaching business, but we are much more than that, we are a transformation company. We are here to bridge the gap between where a person is now and who they wish to be. My customer is the individual who is tired of being stagnant, who needs change, and who is ready to surrender to the process to evolve.
Tell us about yourself
I believe that you need two jobs, one to fill your soul and one to fill your pocket, and this fills my soul. So I have been involved in coaching and training for a decade now due to my obsession with always finding out the why, which has led me to help clients with ailments ranging from Type I and II diabetics, Hoshimotos, leaky gut syndrome, PCOS, infertility, heart disease and more. My obsession with improving my client's quality of life by fixing their metabolic function has led many of my clients to get off a large portion of their medications. I have a deep-rooted obsession with my clients getting the highest quality of coaching. After sunsetting my half-million dollar coaching company, I was determined that I would not allow my business to scale past me, not being able to coach each and every client myself, and that's the way it will stay.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Something I have learned is the less I focus on the actual business and the more I focus on spreading love and being genuine, the better the business does. My accomplishment is my change in mindset.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
In my opinion, one of the hardest things to do as a business owner is realizing that not everything has to be perfect the first time. I know that seems like a no-brainer, but apparently not for me. I was always stuck focusing on how perfect the copy was on the emails or did the ads resonate with my audience, or was that Instagram reel too long. When I stopped focusing on everything being perfect and just started executing, the magic happened. With the data I got from just executing, I was able to perform even better.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If it lights your soul on fire, you're good at it, and it makes you money, double f@cking down.
- There will be a group of people that will be your super fans when you start your business. Nurture them, and they will be the same people that sing your praises from the mountain tops.
- Working in the business and working on the business are two very different things. Make sure you are working on the business, not just in the business.
