Tell us about yourself
My name is Adam. I'm the CEO of Muletown Digital. I got started in this business by handling customer support for a website hosting company. I learned how to code while working at that job and eventually started a website development business called Silverbox Development. That business later grew to the point where I needed to start expanding my services, so I started Muletown Digital 4 years ago, and it's been an amazing journey!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, I would say just owning a successful business to me is my greatest accomplishment. I never thought I'd know how to actually run a company, let alone care for 250+ clients, but here we are doing it day in and day out.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think just learning how to grow a team and how to deliver an amazing product to scale is really challenging. Doing something at a small scale is really hard in its own right, but when you start to scale, that's where you really find out what you're made of. All of the small problems are amplified in your business as you try to grow, so it's like dumping water in a boat and trying to find the holes as you're sinking :). While challenging, I LOVE this part of what we're doing and LOVE the scale at which we operate.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know how to sell what you do - You must be able to sell it, or nothing works.
- Learn how to generate leads OR find a company to do it for you. If you don't have people to sell to, it doesn't matter how good you are at doing the thing. You'll be stuck forever without qualified leads in your business.
- Love what you do - And be okay doing it for free. I LOVE my job. I would do it if I didn't get paid. That helps when the chips are down! If you're passionate about your work, it'll help you succeed much faster!
