The Necessary Motivation Boost - MSP Teambuilding

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Claire Hayek, President and CEO of MSP Teambuilding, located across Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

MSP Teambuilding Inc. (B2B). We work with all types of organizations to help them engage their employees and build a solid corporate culture through workshops inspiring collaboration, communication, and well-being at the workplace. We bring you the very best activities to develop and support teams and help organizations thrive.

Our in-person, hybrid and virtual team building programs are designed to give teams the necessary boost and keep everyone motivated despite working remotely or in hybrid mode.

Tell us about yourself

I studied engineering and had a 20-year career in Engineering, managing distributors, projects, and teams. I decided to do an executive MBA to take my career to the next level and launch my own company. Furthermore, I was always an entrepreneur at heart, launching small ideas and testing them out ever since I can remember. I also have a career in music as a singer-songwriter-producer, until this day (clairehayek.com).

I wanted to combine music and arts with the corporate world, as I always believed music was a powerful tool to bring people together and inspire collaboration. Helping clients and their teams is what motivates me every day, making a difference and sharing my experience to improve company culture, communication, and collaboration across the board.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say launching MSP Teambuilding and its sister company My Studio Party (kids bday parties) and surviving the pandemic! We were able to reinvent our offer and services to cater to our customer's needs in a virtual/hybrid setting while keeping everyone motivated and teams connected despite the distance. I'm so proud to say that we very well succeeded and were not only able to keep our operations running, but we clocked in the highest revenue.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Knowing when and how to scale your business with manageable risk and steady growth.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Trust your instinct and gut feeling. If you're having doubts, chances are you're not ready for what you're about to do, or you're not comfortable with the partnership or situation, so dig further and when you're ready, jump in and go for it!
  2. Surround yourself with the right people: mentors, qualified and reliable staff, etc.
  3. Test your ideas before fully committing to them and if you fail, move on and fail fast. Don't linger on.
