Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sonia Satra, founder, and CEO of Moticise, located in New York, NY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I had a client recently say, "You helped me make my daydreams a reality," and that is what I do. I am passionate about helping people truly create the vision of the life they want and then go make it happen! I have two parts of my business, coaching, and something I created called Moticise, which is like having a fitness trainer and life coach in one. Moticise uses a powerful mindset reset process combined with movement to help people tap into their core purpose and desire, create an action plan and elevate the confidence to execute it successfully.
Tell us about yourself
My first career was as an actress. I actually had the good fortune of playing Lucy Cooper Spaulding on Guiding Light and psycho nurse Barbara, on One Life To Live for many years. (I'm not psycho, though...I promise;-) During the audition process, I learned that it wasn't always the best actor who succeeded; it was the person who had the strongest and most aligned mindset. So I studied mindset and implemented all kinds of strategies, including movement and mindset. It helped me reach my dream of having a television career. Years later, I decided I really wanted to help others do that. So now I speak, coach, and Moticise with people around the world to help them achieve their dreams.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
From a business perspective, my greatest accomplishment is my client's success. I have had people create and sell a multi-7 figure company, lose over 200 pounds, get out of a dead-end job and pursue their passion, find the love of their life, and the list goes on. To me, my client's success is truly my greatest joy- it's why I do what I do. However, I am also very proud of the award that I won for "Best New Fitness Video." Moticise is a very unique and powerful way to exercise, but it's not your traditional fitness video. Initially, they were very skeptical, so it was a real honor to be acknowledged for my creation.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think one of the most important and difficult things for me has been having a clear vision and consistently following through. Like many business owners, I am a very creative and passionate people who have lots of ideas. However, it's critical to make difficult decisions and stay the course. I constantly need to remind myself that otherwise, energy, money, and intention are spread too thin.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a vision and mission that you are passionate about.
- Create a niche- this can be very difficult as we often feel like we can serve everyone, but that is not an effective business plan. Get specific and help that target as best as you possibly can.
- Get support- there will be lots of highs and lows. It's really important to have trustworthy and objective people in your life who can help you stay grounded and teach and guide you along the way.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I truly believe that anything is possible. If you have that deep core desire to follow a dream, listen to it and take small, strategic steps forward. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
