What's your business, and who are your customers?
We sell businesses and work closely with business owners and investors.
Tell us about yourself
I have a background in oil and gas as an engineer. A few years ago, I was working with a vendor and learned the owners were trying to retire. Without knowing anything about how to sell a business, I piped up and said, "I bet I could find a buyer for your company!" That led to our first client and opened the door to a very exciting business.
I really love learning about individual businesses and what makes them work and what doesn't work. As an entrepreneur, it's very interesting to get to see the inner workings of so many businesses. You start to notice trends and get a feel for what (and who) is successful and isn't.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our first closing - is a real milestone in this business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Enduring the plateaus, the dead periods, where there's little feedback or little interest in a particular business we're marketing for sale.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just start - you'll figure it out as you go.
- Get organized and fast - Google drive is an excellent work suite for all things management.
- Don't give up - you will fail, but learn from those failures and try something new.
