What's your business, and who are your customers?

Moore Planning and Consulting (MPC) is a virtual administrative consulting and support firm that helps overwhelmed entrepreneurs and small team leaders gain peace and order with STRATEGY (turning ideas into income) by organizing thoughts and maximizing revenue potential. STRUCTURE (turning chaos into systems) by building processes and back-office automation to get organized and do more with less time and SUPPORT (turning prospects into paying clients) by providing marketing and communication assistance to make the business more profitable.

Tell us about yourself

I am a child of God, a daddy's girl, a wife of twenty-four years, a mother of two young adults, and a dog lover who loves Chinese food, reading a good book, and drinking flavored coffee. I started working in my business full-time after taking a severance package back in 2017. I used the opportunity to reinvent myself on my own terms by repurposing my strategic planning, project management, and leadership skills that helped Fortune 500 companies may millions to use to help small business owners make millions. I'm motivated by the power of what reinventing yourself can do for a business owner who simply needs someone to help them connect the dots to unlock their full potential. It's my gift, and I'm blessed to be able to share it to help entrepreneurs get back to how being happy and loving what they do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is surviving the pandemic. I left my full-time job in November 2019 to work full-time in my business, and the pandemic started four months later, in March 2020. I had to pivot on the spot, and it led me to have one of my highest revenue-generating months during the second quarter of that year. The change also impacted my signature service, which was a local in-person service before the pandemic, and now it's a global virtual service which turned out to be a long-term win for my business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In my opinion, one of the hardest things is knowing when to transition from being the Worker to the CEO in your business by graduating from doing to automating to delegating as you reach new levels in your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a strategic plan for your business that anchors you back to your why, and remember to refer to it often for direction.
  2. Hire a coach to help you in your areas of weakness.
  3. Know when to shift from spending money on empowerment-based services to spending it on execution-based services.
