Best Specialty Coffee - Montañeros Coffee

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wilmer Hernandez Palacio, owner of Montañeros Coffee, located in Windsor, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We work in the experience; we want that each time when people make an order, said, wow, this is the best online purchase. Then, when they receive the package, they would say, wow, this coffee has a beautiful presentation. Next, when they try the coffee, they smile and say, wow, this is the best coffee they have tried in their life. We want that our coffee becomes the perfect excuse to get up early and start the day with the best vibrates.

Tell us about yourself

We're doing something we love. I think that's the secret. We find our coffee roots in the coffee business. We feel glorious being ambassadors of Colombian Coffee in Canada, representing many families of small coffee growers with what we do every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

See that dreams can be fulfilled. When we arrived in Canada in 2016, we only brought a suitcase full of dreams and a great desire to get ahead. Today we have Montañeros Coffee, a Canadian company that is increasingly positioning itself in the market as an expert in specialty coffees.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Keep doing the business, don't give up, especially in challenging times like the ones we are going through nowadays. Educate the consumer. In our business, sometimes it is difficult to make the client understand what is the difference between drinking a specialty coffee and regular coffee since this leads to change habits in them. Not all are willing to do so. In Addition, Educating the consumer takes time and time in business is money.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do something you enjoy doing.
  2. Do something to contribute to living in a better world.
  3. Value your work and your product. Do not reduce your price or try to accommodate yourself to what the client wants to do with you. You are the captain of your boat.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Our focus is to share our coffee culture with Canadian households through a memorable experience with the magic of the aromas and flavors of the best coffee in the world.
