What's your business, and who are your customers?

FELIZ means happy, and in everything we do, happiness lies at the core of it. Founded with full power in 2015, FELIZ Consulting is a leading boutique training and coaching company based in Hong Kong, providing bespoke, fun, interactive, and valuable corporate training, coaching, facilitation, and consultancy services across the Asia-Pacific region and globally since the pandemic.

FELIZ Consulting is all about giving value to the client for more sustainable and harmonious people and business growth. We work with Forbes 500 clients, top law firms, banks, and retail companies. Some of our clients include HKEX, SFC, MetLife, L'Oréal, Richemont Group, DLA Piper, KWM, Electrolux, Sainsbury's, and many others.

Tell us about yourself

I am the CEO and Founder of FELIZ Consulting; I am a mother of two, a woman, a yogi, a coach, a Brazilian, and a curious being. I am an experienced Corporate Trainer and Coach with nearly 20 years of experience in the learning & development space.

What got me first started in this area of learning and development? In 2002 over a casual dinner party, I met someone who had her own training company. She said, "You would be a good trainer and coach! I will train you!" and that's how all the learning and growth started in this field! I am originally from Brazil, and I am passionate about life and connecting with people. I have lived in New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore and have called Hong Kong home (again) since 2013. I hold a BA with First Class Honours in International Relations and Politics from The University of Hong Kong. I am also a certified coach with Coach Masters Academy (CMA) and an accredited consultant with a number of psychometrical tools such as TMP, QO2, DiSC, Mindfulness Fundamentals, and GENOS Emotional Intelligence.

I love running programs on communication, personal branding, executive presence, emotional intelligence, unconscious bias, diversity, inclusion, team development, and more. I am committed and passionate about delivering work that makes a positive difference, and a true impact on business, on individuals, and on our community.

On the personal side, I am married with two children and a dog. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, listening to interesting podcasts, and doing yoga. My family and my work motivate me to keep going every day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting as a "solopreneur" in 2015 and growing to have several people in my team and another few consultants on projects, I feel, is a big accomplishment!

Being a Brazilian woman in Asia, starting my own business, and working with such top clients is a big dream come true. Sometimes I wonder if it is real, and I tell myself, "Be proud of yourself, Mônica! Don't let that impostor syndrome comes in," and then I keep going!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Getting started was the first challenge, but I overcame it eight years ago!
Scaling up has been hard for me. Clients want more, but then to find consultants that meet FELIZ standards and my clients' standards has not been easy. But having clear goals, finding the right people to work in my team, and staying true to myself is key!
