No Luxe Left Behind - Monica Tapia-Mularski
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Monica Tapia-Mularski, Co-Founder of Season 2 Consign & Season 2 Franchising, located in Weston, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Season 2 Consign is a luxury resale e-tailer with a mission to create a digital safe space for clients on both ends of our business model, whereby consignors and customers feel that our product cycle builds trust, has integrity, and the highest quality concierge-style customer service at its core. Our clients are looking for authentic luxury pieces to add to their collections and a transparent/trustworthy company to work with within the process.
Tell us about yourself
With over a decade of experience in the luxury handbag resale industry and entrepreneurship, Season 2 Consign was created by my sister, Erika Schrieber, and myself. We found a major void in the market for a modernized, efficient model of consignment with an elevated aesthetic and the best customer service out there. We wanted a tech-driven company that would disrupt the luxury resale industry in the most positive way possible. We also launched during the summer of COVID 2020, and so we implemented live shopping as part of our business model to help build human connection during a time when we all needed it the most. It has been stated that Season 2 is a pioneer in the live shopping space in the luxury resale industry, and we wear that badge with honor. We don't take any of the support and growth lightly. We're very proud of our team, franchise partners, clients, and family.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I would say one of the biggest accomplishments to date is launching the franchise side of our company and onboarding our first few franchise partners. It is the biggest compliment someone could give us, to trust so much in our business model that they invest in it for themselves! Erika and I are humbled every day to know we can help equip others to enter the luxury resale industry with a proven modernized approach.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things for me has been remembering to take a moment to enjoy where we're currently at in the process of growth and expansion. As entrepreneurs, we are constantly looking for ways to evolve in our respective industries, but we forget to stop and take a moment. Appreciation for the current chapter is just as important as looking toward what's to come.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be inexplicably and unapologetically confident in what you have to offer the market.
- Work from a place of gratitude and make sure your team can see it & feel it.
- Self-awareness is KEY - the most successful companies are run by leaders who hire people smarter and better than them in specific roles. When you admit your own shortcomings, you can make smart hires for continued growth.
