Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mitch Webb, owner of Mitch Webb Health Coaching, located in Raleigh, NC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I offer individualized 1:1 health coaching, and I help busy executives who are sick, tired, and overweight get their life back by creating a personalized coaching session that allows my clients to look, feel and perform their best by optimizing mindset, nutrition, and lifestyle choices.
Tell us about yourself
When I was in my 20s, I got really sick. From the outside looking in, I was living the American dream. I was a Sales Executive with a six-figure income, large accounts, a company car, a bright future, and a beautiful wife. But I was dying on the inside. I was extremely stressed and rarely slept, had regular panic attacks, my joints constantly hurt, and I had accepted that I was no longer able to exercise at 25. I was holding it together with bottles, i.e., pill bottles and booze, with no relief in sight.
Now, after years of struggling with chronic illness and finding my own path to wellness, it is my purpose and passion in life to help others in similar situations. I was able to get my life back and hope to give the gift of a second chance to others. Specifically, individuals like myself that have busy careers, who are increasingly concerned about their health, sleep deprived, overweight, overly stressed, and lack the energy/motivation for family or playtime. I want to help people take control of their lives and give them the ability to live a more optimal life full of energy, free from anxiety, and a personalized road map for long-term weight loss success. It is an honor to share my journey and experiences with others in hopes of changing someone else’s life for the better.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Following my passion and doing what I love to do is my biggest accomplishment. After my health journey and seeing success with all the chronic issues I was facing, I fell in love with wellness and realized that so many people could benefit from what I’ve learned. It’s now my purpose and passion to inspire and guide others to the healthiest versions of themselves.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is prioritizing time so that you’re efficient and effective without neglecting other aspects of life outside of the business, like relationships, leisure time, finances, family, and personal growth. It’s easy to focus on one thing, but as business owners, we have to take a 10,000-foot view so that we can see the big picture and manage our lives appropriately. As an individual, that can be a daunting task, and that’s why I recommend working with a coach because they help us see the big picture when we cannot. Zooming out and assessing the situation without being attached to the outcome is an amazing tool and leads to long-term success.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get in touch with your passion and use your unique gifts to make the world a better place.
- Learn to say no. It’s either a hell yes or a no. If it’s not hell, yes, it’s not worth your time and energy.
- Treat your body like an athlete would. If you want your business to do well, you have to perform at a high level. That means eating healthy foods, moving frequently and appropriately, managing stress, prioritizing sleep, and fostering healthy relationships with yourself and others.
