Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Allen, Founder of Miss GiGi’s Sweets, located in Billings, MT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Miss GiGi’s Sweets Bakery. Our customers come from all around Montana. We even have some customers as far away as Tennessee and Texas.

Tell us about yourself

I’ve always had a passion for baking. It’s how I de-stressed. Growing up, people kept saying I should do this for a living instead of just giving it away to family and friends. So back in 2018, I did just that. I started Miss GiGi’s Sweets with my mom and family right beside me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I’ve been in business for 4 years. I’ve taken Billings Best donuts for the last 3, and we were also named Best Bakery in Montana by Distinctly Montana Magazine.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Making sure the service and product we provide are of the same excellent quality, no matter who was in charge of making/giving it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be prepared to work 7 days a week. Don’t try to expand too fast. Make sure the product you put out is of good quality. Don’t let anything you find sub-par go out the door.
