I Engineer Copy That Converts - Mira Anamae Services

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in copywriting but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mira Anamae, founder of Mira Anamae Services, located in Yola, Adamawa, Nigeria.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a B2B SaaS email and landing page conversion copywriter. I partner with agencies and software brands to grow their revenue and attract highly qualified leads via emails, landing pages, and funnel copy. I do this by combining message finding, sales psychology, and conversion copywriting techniques to get in your customers' heads.

Tell us about yourself

As a BioMed freshman, I was devastated when I realized that I couldn't afford my preferred paints at the time. That's when I realized that I needed a steady source of income so that I could take care of myself (and buy more paint). I already knew how to write well, so I figured that I'd become a freelance writer. In 2021, I stumbled on some Copyhackers posts on website copywriting, and I decided to give copywriting a try.

Three things keep me going every day. Firstly, I enjoy working with clients who feel confident using my copy in their emails, messaging, and landing pages. Secondly, I'm able to afford the art supplies and gadgets that I want and need. Thirdly, I have something to do other than painting and doing schoolwork. Running my biz can be risky and nerve-wracking, but it's very fulfilling to see it - and myself – grow! I've learned to sell my services, build authority in my niche, network with professionals, and build my tribe in a lil' Internet corner.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm building a business that I love, and I'm now financially independent as a college student. I'm also proud of myself for regrowing my LinkedIn audience to 2000 peeps after unfollowing 1000+ peeps from my network to start over in August, and relaunching my email list to 86 subs last year from a dead list of 5 subscribers.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Knowing which tasks to prioritize. Some aren't as important as they seem, and if you overlook others, you won't see traction or gain momentum in your business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't start without a niche. A niche isn't your industry but the people who can afford to pay you to solve their pressing problem.
  2. Don't be shy to sell because nobody will buy what you're quiet about.
  3. Build momentum & cash in your business by consistently doing income-generating activities like sending personalized pitches to leads and selling your content every day or so.
