What's your business, and who are your customers?
The concept for Minnieology Gifts is to help busy women and working professionals send thoughtful and personal gifts, as it has become a lost art in this modern age where we click and ship gifts over the internet. The recipient would receive a standard box in the mail. However, upon opening, they would be surprised with the personalized decorated box flaps and thoughtful gifts for the recipient.
Tell us about yourself
I like to be thoughtful in everything I do, considering the specific person's gift and being eco-friendly and non-toxic. Minnieology®️ Gifts started accidentally several years ago when I wrapped gifts for close friends with milestone birthdays. The project ended on the back burner, with my event planning corporate job demanding the focus. When I left my corporate job in August 2018 to focus on my health and fertility treatments, I was inspired to start Minnieology®️ up again when putting together gifts for my two best girlfriends turning 40. They are busy working moms, and I wanted to make them feel loved and special on their birthdays.
Minnieology Gifts is driven to help to send thoughtful and personal gifts. My main focus is to curate gifts from other small businesses and keep the gift useful and consumable. The most significant response received to date is that these aren't your ordinary gift boxes. It's like a hug in a box, and there have been happy tears. It takes it a step further to showcase your thoughtfulness truly. I love helping others, and bringing sunshine to their life in these little moments, brings me joy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I created this business from the bottom with no experience and figuring it out independently, and I'm seeing growth year over year.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Managing every aspect of the business on my own, it is often hard to keep up with the ever-revolving door or changes in the world along with social media.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be open to pivoting a lot.
- Understand that not everyone will be your customer,
- And when you fall, try, try again.
