Prevent, Treat, and Resolve Pain - Mindlybody

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alexandra Kovacsova, Owner of Mindlybody, located in King's Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Strength and Conditioning and Rehabilitation. I help people to move, train and live pain-free— those who suffer musculoskeletal aches and pains that stop them from doing the things they love or experience pain that affects their productivity at work. It stops them from training and spending quality time with their kids or grandchildren and also prevents them from doing their sports.

My online program, 3 Weeks Wellness Success, was officially designed for those committed 'time-poor' in-office professionals who want to maximize performance through learning to prevent, treat and resolve pain and optimize movement. For any aches and pain caused by sitting or repetition, this program takes them through phases 1 and 2 recovery with movement and postural assessments and treats lower back and hip, shoulder, and knee pain. Letting people get to know their body and figure out the cause of the pain so it treats the root of the problem and they can get back to doing the things they love the most!

Tell us about yourself

The main reason I started this was purely people. To help them. I know this might sound like such a common answer that you would think I say it because everyone wants to hear it, but in the beginning, lots of time, I worked for free just to help others, those who couldn't afford to pay and wanted to be healthier, fitter and get rid of their pain. Also, I still make sure I go the extra mile for those who come to see me because I truly care about the result, and I want them to feel better! Nothing is better than getting a big hug, thank you, and appreciation that finally, someone can move pain-free. It is so important. It makes life so much more enjoyable from any perspective, and I love it. My job is rewarding, and I can serve others with my whole heart.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I don't think I can name one specific. Even getting an ultra-long distance cyclist after two years of being out back to cycling 600+ km again to making a little girl with Quadriplegic Cerebral palsy be able to sit in balance or stand for 120 seconds to working towards walking after a spinal cord injury are all huge accomplishments. I am very proud of these. And also proud that I could put an amazing online program together to reach more people in the world. I have changed the program 4x as I wasn't happy with it; I wanted to give more and more and better and better, and now finally, after a year, it's up and running and is great. I also add new content to it each month, and people don't have to pay a penny extra for it once purchased.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Building trust and showing people I truly care. Especially in the online world, I really want to show my true personality, how much I care for human beings and that I really put my heart into the program and the books so they get the most out of it and actually get results, not just asking for the money. I find it hard occasionally to get my love and care across to people online.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do it with passion.
  2. Just start. Know your why and what will show.
  3. Don't wait for everything to be perfect or at the right time; just do it now. You can find many excuses on why not to do something, but don't follow that path.
