What's your business, and who are your customers?

Minaa B. Consulting is a mental health consulting practice that helps organizations develop psychological safety and become mental health inclusive.

Tell us about yourself

I am a writer, speaker, founder, and licensed mental health professional. I started working on my business 6 years ago to inspire people to enhance their personal well-being and take control of their mental health. In 2020, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, I began receiving an influx of requests from companies to bring my services to their employees. This was when I pivoted from working directly with individuals to companies and organizations. I am extremely passionate about helping others and giving them the tools to help themselves, which motivates me to keep doing what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment thus far is getting amazing feedback regarding how my services have helped others, alongside being able to speak for organizations in different industries that I truly admire.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is all the hats you have to wear, knowing when to delegate, and being consistent even when you want to give up.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Consistency is how you grow. Don't give up when things get hard.
  2. Your friends are not your customers. Find your niche, know your target audience, and serve those people.
  3. Take care of your mental health and well-being. When you neglect yourself, you neglect your business.
