Tell us about yourself
My inspiration for pursuing a dual career in education and entrepreneurship was sparked, at age 14, by role models in my family. My daily motivation is waking up excited to advise, encourage, enrich, and inspire using my GOD-given talents, passion, and learned skills & knowledge to serve those who can benefit.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
MP:C was established on Sept. 1, 1990. My greatest accomplishment is celebrating its longevity and continued evolvement to reach its maximum potential.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a business owner requires creative and strategic thinking skills to identify all the logistics of developing and successfully operating your business. Business Structure, Administration, and Brand Identity/Business Development are vital components that can't always be managed solo. So, it's imperative to know when to secure qualified technical assistance. Whether you're a solopreneur who collaborates, like me, or a multi-personnel business, use all available resources to minimize hardships and be positioned to be a resilient & thriving entity.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Write a business plan (or contract a qualified consultant to do so). A well-written business plan provides you with clarity on your mission, vision, operating principles, and short-term & long-term goals.
- Align your business operations with your core values to ensure always being authentic. Prioritize work/life balance and self-care.
- When pursuing business growth, be selective and always engage in "win-win networking connections." There are strengths, wisdom, and residual benefits in mutually beneficial collaboration.
