Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in leadership development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Michele D'Amico, Founder and CEO of Vetta, located in Northridge, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an executive coach. I work with individuals and organizations to increase leadership potential and team building. My specialty is emotionally intelligent communication.
Tell us about yourself
I fell into this business. I was getting a Master's in Psychology and planning on a PsyD in Clinical Psychology, and needed to make money. I was raising my daughter at the same time, so I needed something that was flexible. I came across coaching and started small, and it just grew from there.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Just staying in business as an entrepreneur for as long as I have and growing it in the direction I wanted it to grow.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The unknown! As an entrepreneur, I never know how things will go from one month to the next. So, I have to trust that what I'm doing will work out.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your why! What motivates you to do what you are doing? Be specific.
- Never give up, and never give in! Keep learning and gathering new skills.
- Self-care. Don't forget to take care of yourself.
