What's your business, and who are your customers?
Chef Tiyan - Miami Hedonist is a carefully curated culinary experience that takes you on a journey that heightens your senses, creates pleasure, and excites you through food. I host a weekly secret dinner club where you meet and dine with strangers. I also provide chef services for high-end and exclusive intimate parties.
Tell us about yourself
I started cooking at a very young age, I started my career in Law but followed the calling to become a chef; the joy and excitement I get from people who participate in my dining experiences are priceless.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is winning the World Luxury restaurant Chef Award for fine dining. I also mentored a chef student who participated in the Young Chef Olympiad. That was truly rewarding.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things is having to close a business venture for whatever reason, it is usually a difficult decision even though sometimes for the best. As they say, the end is usually the beginning of something new and hopefully something better.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do something you are very good at; it makes the core of the job easier.
- Hire the right and competent people for the job.
- Reward yourself, put in the work but remember your health is wealth.
