What's your business, and who are your customers?

We provide music lessons, classes, and camps for kids and adults in the Seattle area.

Tell us about yourself

I began teaching music independently in 2001 and opened Meter Music School in 2011. I love having the opportunity to run a small business that creates community in the neighborhood where I live.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a team of educators and support staff who bring fun and positivity to our clients each day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Setting boundaries so that I have space to be away from work and know that our operations are in good hands.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find or create a supportive community with other business owners.
Seek partnerships with other organizations in your area.
Be intentional about protecting your time away from work.
