Tell us about yourself

I've always been enthralled by rhythm, soundscapes, and music creation. The idea of someday performing professionally, recording on session dates, and sharing the art form through teaching had been my dream since I was sixteen.

Although I worked a few retail jobs while studying music business and audio engineering in college, a couple of months after my 21st birthday, I decided to invest my time and resources into establishing my own music education and recording facility, Melodic Media est. 1998.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One of my biggest accomplishments was the recent release and publishing of my first EP, "A Place I Used to Know." Available for purchase at iTunes and AppleMusic, streaming all platforms at  https://linktr.ee/khalilhebert

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Dealing with the lows when business is down can be financially overwhelming and extremely discouraging. Make sure you keep a business savings account and accessible lines of credit to push through those tough times. And don't be afraid to make necessary changes to stay current with technical trends in your field.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Manage your finances closely, create a budget and keep monthly balance sheets. Register for a DUNNS & SAM number so you'll be eligible to bid on Federal grants and create capital for your business.

Forgive yourself for making mistakes. Many will be made along your journey. It's a learning experience.
