Find the Path to Who You Really Are - Maureen Scanlon
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Maureen Scanlon, founder of Maureen Scanlon Life Coaching, located in Mesa, AZ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My passion is to help people see their worth and live the life they envision. I am a Certified Life Coach, Relationship Expert, and Self-Worth integrator! My "Stop being lonely and Start being Alone " is about finding the path to who we really are. My coaching uncovers limiting beliefs and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck and unfulfilled for those who feel life happens to them, not for them.
Tell us about yourself
My business started "by accident." No really! When I was made aware of Life Coaching, I realized I had been doing this my entire life, just not getting paid for it. It started my journey to learning, certification, and realizing the gift and passion I had for "being the voice my younger self needed." I had so many painful, challenging experiences during the first half of my life, and I knew I could help others who were in the same moments of their lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is always seeing my clients grow and live a life of joy they never had before. The success of my books, "My Dog is More Enlightened Than I Am" and "My Dog is My Relationship Coach," has been such a great surprise and joy. They have received 11 awards, including Amazon Best Seller and NYC Big Book Awards.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think consistency and patience have been my hardest struggles. I don't have a "sales-y" mentality so just believing "build it, and they will come" has been my go-to that works.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You need to be passionate about what you do and focus on the "why" and the how will come.
- Remember that it's a long game. Don't expect to be an overnight millionaire. Always do something that moves you forward, one step at a time.
- Find what you are best at. Stay in your niche of knowledge. Connect and research with others in your field.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
When I finally quit my corporate job, it was after speaking with a connection on LinkedIn who said these profound words, "If you don't believe in you and your business 100%, no one else should either".
