Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Matt Kreinheder, Founder of Transformation & Coaching Industry Research Lab, located in Encinitas, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our business ensures that coaching, healers, and transformational leaders are standing in the true integrity of doing what they promise they will. We've all probably been to some event or been targeted by an ad with truly compelling "hype." However, when we purchase the product or service or get into the community, we realize there is no way it could deliver on the promise. That's not okay, and it needs to change. I work with people who want to change the world through their services of coaching, mentoring, or transformation and are committed to doing it with excellence, integrity, and transparency, so they can set a new standard of ethical leadership in their industry and niche.
Tell us about yourself
My roots are in spirituality and indulging a deep curiosity about how the world works. At heart, I'm an explorer of consciousness and how people change. After four college degrees (working on my fifth now), a decade as an energy-based chiropractor, and eight years in coaching, I realized how much opportunity there is to make a difference in the world through coaching. But the coaching industry is a mess, and we need someone who will champion ethical practices and objective research to move the whole industry forward.
I'm constantly motivated by the idea that people can get the help they need. That means more really good, integrity-oriented health, wellness, spirituality, business, and relationship coaches out there helping people.
What's your biggest accomplishment as the Founder of the Transformation & Coaching Industry Research Lab?
Honestly and transparently, we're early in this journey, so I won't try to BS you with some revenue number or magical transformation. However, I've had conversations with many entrepreneurs who have seven and eight-figure annual revenue businesses for the Coaching Industry Podcast, and uniformly they've felt two things when they learn about what we're doing - excited and terrified. They know that when this sweeps the industry, there will be no more hiding behind the power of your marketing. It's time to shift to objective, third-party verification of coaching results.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a life coach and Founder?
The hardest thing I've found is that it can be a lonely path shining light into the shadows. I've talked with many coaches who publicly stand for integrity but privately decline to use our services because they don't want to actually understand how ineffective their program is. They don't want to burst the bubble of their own brand and get down to the real work of raising the bar of outcomes and serving their clients at a higher level. Any founder knows they've got to believe in their product, ability, and what this business will do so entirely that it towers over the doubt and naysaying that are daily occurrences on this journey.
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a life coaching today?
Commit to your mastery. There is rhetoric in the industry that you can teach anything that you know how to do well. That is terrible advice. Knowing how to do something is not the same as knowing why you are good at it, how to teach it, whom you will best teach it to, and what to do if you get stuck in the inner or outer transformation process that naturally accompanies the types of change they're really looking for. A good coach is a master of change, a master of understanding humans, and knowing how to stay with the process until their client hits the finish line.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Businesses can (and I believe should) be set up to maximize more Goodness, Truth, and Beauty in the world. Companies can be built on a foundation of generating ripples of growth through win-win-win decision-making. Entrepreneurship can be a path of personal evolution and a vehicle for self-discovery, self-development, and service to humanity. Our world is drowning because entrepreneurs and industry leaders alike have yet to make these truths core tenets of their businesses. Now that you see this is possible, it's up to you to decide which path to choose.
