Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anthony Laing, COO of Master Roachee's Garden, located in Terre Haute, IN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Master Roachee's Garden is all about providing relief and wellness through whole-plant therapy. We know just how powerful CBD and other cannabinoids can be in relieving pain, improving sleep, and supporting your body's natural process of maintaining homeostasis. We are offering our products to adults from all over the country who are looking for a natural resource for relief of pain, anxiety, and sleeplessness.
Tell us about yourself
From a young age, I have whole-heartedly believed that I am on this planet to help people. That ideal has directed my actions in every field in which I've spent time, including government, not-for-profit work, and working with at-risk youths in the past.
My partner and I had a long discussion about just how we could be the change we wanted to see and found a way to combine our talents and knowledge to bring that change to our community locally and across our great nation.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Despite the youth of our company, I have been blessed to hear from several people that have struggled with chronic pain and anxiety for years and who we have been able to provide with relief. In some cases, we have even heard that, with the help of our products, these customers have been able to reduce reliance on opioid prescriptions or even step away from them together.
To think that we came up with a formulation capable of that and that we made it accessible for people is a feeling I simply cannot describe. That is our mission made manifest.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
At the end of the day, there is no one else you can pass the buck to. When there is a problem, it is up to me and my partner, to fix it, and our team is counting on us. It may bring stress, but it also brings a sense of pride when we are able to find solutions.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do the leg work. If this is your first time owning a company, you may not be familiar with the power you have to get things done. The company can develop and move as fast as you cause it to, to an extent.
- Meet people in your industry and in related industries. We have been incredibly blessed by friends we have made along the way by attending conventions and the like to network. There are like-minded people out there who can help bring about your vision.
- See the potential in others and surround yourself with those who can make up for your weaknesses, and that includes those with whom you do not necessarily agree on everything. It is important to receive honest feedback from your team to help council your decisions.
