Transform Your Closet and Your Confidence - Marti J Styles
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marti Justice, Founder and CEO of Marti J Styles, located in Carmel, IN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Personal Wardrobe Stylist for busy working moms. I consult, detox, shop, and style elevated outfits for women who work at home, in the workplace, or for themselves. I help them to feel seen, known, heard and celebrated for the value they add to those around them.
Tell us about yourself
After being a homeschool stay-at-home mom for years, it was time to find a purpose outside that role. My transition into entrepreneurship was born out of a prayer that was answered quickly. My passion for busy working moms comes from being one. I know the struggle of the hamster wheel lifestyle that never seems to stop. My goal is to provide busy moms with a realization that they need time for refreshment and they can stylishly represent themselves. After all, we only live once!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Style is not just a moment, it is a journey. This journey is a collaboration between the client and me. This process helps them drill down to embracing their body and finding out their own personal style. This is my accomplishment. When a client can walk in confidence into their workplace or event, knowing that their outfit represents them is also a major accomplishment for me as their stylist. Working with these women is my greatest blessing. Here is an example of one of my accomplishments in one of my client testimonials.
"This experience was beyond anything I could have imagined. Marti is so easy to talk to, like a long-lost girlfriend! She listened to what I wanted, I never felt judged or shamed for what I had been wearing, and she encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone in regard to clothes. She was really amazing at asking guiding questions without giving her straight-up opinion, and pointing out things she noticed which highlighted my features. Her attention to detail at fitting (having my favorite wine and treats ready!) was completely unexpected and so sweet. I want her to come and redo my whole wardrobe next time!" - Kelly
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things I have to face as a business owner is the many hats I have to wear. Learning how to balance and delegate the areas of my life as a wife, mom, and all that is needed to run a successful business is what I have to face on a daily basis.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Fight the fear you feel when you are starting.
- Get help and a community of friends that understand what it takes to start a business.
- Stay the course. Work the process before you, and don't give up. The world needs the uniqueness you bring to it!
