What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help women entrepreneurs give themselves permission to be seen. As an empowerment coach and marketing strategist, I guide them with specific steps to stand out on social media with their content, land speaking opportunities, and get featured as experts on TV.

Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the younger of two girls. My mom was a stay-at-home mom, and my dad was an engineer who then opened up his own company. We moved to a different city when I was 6, and the change prompted my mom to follow her heart in starting her own church. I grew up seeing her speak boldly to small and large groups of people, and eventually, at 14, I stepped up to share my own story and message with her church. By 18, I was an integral part of the ministry, from a worship (singing and playing the keyboard) to ministering and interpreting for American preachers that would lead conferences through her church.

After graduating high school, choosing my major in college was not a hard task at all - I had an easy time with languages and a natural talent for communicating my thoughts and helping others do the same. I earned a BA in Translation in Brazil (Portuguese, English, and French) and a Master's in Applied Linguistics at the University of Colorado Denver. In 2016, I was blessed to give birth to triplets - Samuel, Benjamin & Gloria. This huge plot twist in my life showed me I had yet another chapter to live: start my own business. When they were only 9 months old, I joined a network marketing company and dove into the world of personal development. This opportunity opened a door for me that would eventually take me to my ultimate vision: mentoring other women entrepreneurs as a speaker, author, and marketing expert.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm so grateful to have had amazing accomplishments in the last 6 years; I launched my podcast in 2018, landed my first speaking engagement in 2019, was featured on TV and TEDx and published my book, The Empowered Woman: The Ultimate Roadmap to Business Success.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The biggest challenge for entrepreneurs in this day and age is comparison. It's so easy to get frustrated, angry, bitter, and disappointed in yourself when you look at someone else's journey and accomplishments. When we focus on someone else's highlight reel, we step into dangerous territory that keeps us stuck and stunts our growth - and that's why I'm so big on self-empowerment.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Actively work on your mindset and perception of yourself. Understand this is a long life journey. For as long as you're alive, you will have to increase self-awareness, so you can increase self-acceptance to move forward.
  2. Have a strategy in place for your marketing and business plan. Income isn't just going to magically appear. There must be a blueprint to follow, so you can collect data to assess and adjust when needed.
  3. Cultivate relationships. There is no business without people. You need clients, referral partners and mentors. Get used to networking, supporting others, and being vulnerable.
