Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Margot Bianca Amzallag, founder of Greneta / Ono Poké, located in Paris, France.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Greneta is a Paris-based catering business that specializes in professional events such as movie premieres. Greneta's communication strategy is very discreet. Most of our clients come from word-of-mouth. We are also the exclusive caterer for Le Salon du Panthéon, a famous venue in Paris decorated by actress Catherine Deneuve. As mentioned, our clients are mostly production companies (Why Not Productions, Authentic Prod, etc.), but we also cater to big corporations such as Warner Bros, Netflix France, Rothschild, etc.
Tell us about yourself
I come from a family of food lovers. My mom started her catering company when she was 23. At age 24, while completing my Master's degree from USC (Los Angeles, CA), I opened the first poké bar in Paris. It was a hit. I then worked in food consulting and events in Los Angeles and then eventually moved back to Paris and took over Greneta in February 2021.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
It's hard to say! I have a lot of goals I set for myself for 2022.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Not being able to disconnect from work. When you own a business, it gives you incredible freedom, but your business also becomes your everything. Another hard thing to deal with, especially during the pandemic, is not knowing what tomorrow will bring. Our industry was running really well and got hit so hard by COVID. We felt particularly powerless during those times.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- It's okay to be scared and not know where to start.
- Everything seems impossible until you do it.
- Believe in yourself.
