Unleash Creativity - Marc Scheff Coaching
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marc Scheff, Founder of Marc Scheff Coaching, located in Brooklyn, NY, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I coach people to move from success to fulfillment.
Tell us about yourself
I’ve always been a helper and lifted others up. As a student, I led student groups. In tech, I was awarded for my efforts to create a better and more fulfilling workplace. As an award-winning artist, I coached, taught, and mentored others to help them create a more satisfying life doing work they love. Now I use these creative tools to Coach artists, activists, and entrepreneurs. We move past fear and create action plans to make a deep and meaningful impact in the world. Every day, I have these conversations, and someone walks away with new ideas, new inspiration, and new energy. The feeling I get from that is an incredible reward.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Changing lives and supporting others in changing the lives of others. While respecting confidentiality, some of my clients have expanded their work well beyond what they initially imagined.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Sales and marketing. Being authentic with who you are and drawing people to you is a fine art. It’s something I work at every day. Making mistakes is hard and part of the process.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start small
Think about what your MVP (minimum viable product) is. For me, it is free discovery calls to test my “product” and measure results. - Your MVP is not setting up the business.
We have a distinction between working IN and working ON the business. Best to do something small that is IN the business to test the idea before doing loads of work to set up things like LLCs and bank accounts. - That small thing, do it now. Like, now.
The risks associated with failure on a small project are small. And the worst-case scenario is more than likely a low-probability outcome.
