What's your business, and who are your customers?

We sell Sea Moss, a mineral-rich and nutrient-dense superfood to adults, mainly mid 20-30s. Although we also get a good amount of seniors who find us, we are more than thrilled to help them.

Tell us about yourself

Prior to starting Manafest Health, I was seeing clients for holistic health guidance and energy work. I was teaching meditation and hosting classes for health. My passion for health started with my Mother was diagnosed with cancer. The emotions that come along with devastating news are serious, and through learning more about health, I realized that the fear and stress associated with diagnoses could actually be avoided and prevented through our lifestyle. This has motivated me in business because my story is not unique. We all have people close to us who have been affected by diseases, and through our daily health choices, we can help lessen those numbers and create a ripple effect of health within our circles.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is hearing my customer's testimonies. So many people come back to tell us about how it has helped them with their health and how they feel better than ever. That is so encouraging and inspirational. It fuels the flame to get creative to continue to help people feel better, naturally, as much as we can.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a business owner, there is always so much that needs to get done, and we wear at least ten different hats to make it work. So much of it requires learning curves in different areas, and that can get frustrating. However, day by day, as continuous progress is made, it is so deeply satisfying to see it all come together. It's so worth it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a strong reason you want to do what you're doing. It is going to take a lot of work to get there.
  2. Do your research on how much capital it will take to run your first year of business, and make sure you can handle that.
  3. You have to have a love for your customers. At the end of the day, every business is about serving people. Knowing how you can and want to best serve them in focused ways is key.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As you build your business, you must maintain your sanity. It is so easy to become a workaholic. Continue doing your hobbies and do the activities that make you happy and alive because you are the foundation and fuel for what you are building. Make sure it is built on a strong and happy foundation so that it translates into your venture. And lastly, of course, enjoy the journey. There will ALWAYS be 100 things you have to do, so take a step back often to give yourself a pat on the shoulder and celebrate life. Life is short, and we're all doing great.
