What's your business, and who are your customers?
Makeup By Celena provides the best makeup services to every single one of my clients. It is combining my creativity, passion for makeup, and style together to make clients' visions come to life. I use top-notch products and my up-to-date skill set to provide above and beyond results. Makeup By Celena is making clients feel comfortable and confident and allowing their best selves to shine through on some of the biggest days of their lives.
Tell us about yourself
I started out working in healthcare because my passion has always been to help others. I am a wife and a new mom to a perfect little boy who has changed it all. I needed to figure out how to create more time with family. One day I decided to pursue my love of lipstick and all things makeup/creativity/style. Although very different, makeup artistry still allows me to make people feel they are the very best in other ways and to accomplish anything they want. It motivates me each day when I see the smiles on clients' faces or receive thank you cards saying I gave them confidence or they've never felt so beautiful. I feel so lucky every single day that I have turned my passion into something more. I truly love the work that I do and how good it makes other people feel.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is honestly all of my clients. I have met so many amazing people, been a part of their special days, and created some really awesome relationships. The positive feedback, gratefulness, and returning clients allow me to really feel like I'm doing what I set out to do. They are how I measure my accomplishments.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think the hardest thing that has come to my attention is that I am my toughest critic. I hold myself to a very high standard on the beauty side and also the administration side. It is definitely challenging to balance work and home life and stay "off the clock" when you're making your own time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself.
- Quality, not Quantity.
- Things take time. Don't expect everything to go perfectly right away, and learn from each mistake. Everything slowly falls into place.
