Tell us about yourself

Prior to creating Forthestemofit, I worked as an Adolescent Clinician and Special Education classroom teacher and gained significant experience running youth programs. I have a B.A. in Sociology from Boston College and my M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Emmanuel College. During my time at Codman, I completed my second M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a dual focus on Inclusive Education and Reading from Concordia University-Portland online program. I also have experience as a Reading Specialist, STEM, ELA, and U.S. History Inclusive teacher, SPED Para, and Curriculum Enrichment Advisor in the Boston, Brookline, and Hingham school systems. My philosophy of teaching focuses on these elements:

  1. Knowing and treating every student as an individual.
  2. Teaching in ways that engage students and leave them with a deep understanding of the subject matter.
  3. Undertaking extensive planning, assessment, and evaluation.
  4. Creating a classroom environment that encourages all students to be part of the learning process.

Treating students as individuals, engaging students in ways that create a deeply understand, planning and assessing, and creating a positive classroom environment are all parts of my teaching philosophy that guide the way in which I interact with students. Learning should be enlightening and enjoyable for students, and my philosophy of teaching embodies that goal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing my brand come to life. It has been humbling but also amazing to see my work grow.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
