Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Sinnett, Founder & Licensed Acupuncturist of Magnolia Wellness OC, located in Costa Mesa, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called "Overcoming Infertility," and my customers are women who have been struggling to get pregnant for more than six months.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Angela Sinnett, and I am the mother of 3 daughters. I am passionate about helping women become mothers after seeing so many women struggle firsthand throughout my career. It first started when my best friend was going through an emotional roller coaster of hormonal injections trying to get a baby through IVF. I was devastated to see her body struggling to accommodate all of these hormones and her thyroid crashing, only to continue to miscarry after she had spent tens of thousands of dollars and her marriage struggled. I decided to do something different and approach the body as a whole so that people could understand that it's not just the reproductive organs that need to be focused on, but the blood and nourishment and the other organ systems that play such a huge role in the garden that is the body so that we understand everything going into the ovaries to make these little babies happen.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting a female-owned wellness collaborative with an incredible team of practitioners who share and come together to offer optimal healing on every level, from physical, emotional, to spiritual.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Time management. It has become essential for me to really capitalize on and be able to juggle 3 kids, a husband, a household, and 2 offices with a virtual practice launching.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a mentor-somebody who has gone before you...made mistakes, so you can learn from them, and they can guide you, and you have somebody to go to for questions.
  2. Working on your personal skills as a communicator.
  3. Make sure that you have your hands in every aspect of the business in the beginning so that you can understand how it works before you can delegate the tasks.
