What's your business, and who are your customers?

Magnolia Skin Essentials is a luxury, clean skincare line based in Charleston, SC. Our customers are women ages 35 to 65.

Tell us about yourself

I am a 2nd generation Hispanic entrepreneur, author, speaker, and former divorce recovery coach for 20 years. My passion was helping people heal from pain and experience new life. I founded Magnolia Skin Essentials in 2018 and began formulating natural skin care products as a new and exciting way to continue helping people heal through toxin-free products that are as luxurious and exciting to use as they are good for your skin. I received a diploma in Organic Skincare from the Centre of Excellence in 2019 and am an affiliate member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (national).

My motivation: I believe everyone should have the opportunity to become the best version of themselves. My vision with Magnolia Skin Essentials products is precisely to help people achieve that goal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Surviving the COVID shutdowns.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Not getting discouraged.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make a business plan first so you have a road map to follow. Without that, your journey will be twice as difficult and frustrating.
  2. Understand what your customer wants as you design your product line.
  3. Having the freedom to start your own business is very exciting, so enjoy the process and have a great time building your dream.
