What's your business, and who are your customers?

I make colorful staples with a focus on underwear. My customers are women who are interested in sustainable practices, comfort, color, and quality.

Tell us about yourself

In 2018 I decided to start using sustainable materials in my creations, and it was actually bamboo jerseys that inspired me to create underwear. It was so soft! So after spending many months getting the pattern just right on my first underwear design (Classic Full Coverage) and putting them on, I knew this was something I felt passionate about sharing with other women. So often, the designs are sexy but super uncomfortable or cozy but completely unflattering. My goal was to bridge the gap between these two things and offer a base layer that felt like a sigh of relief instead of super restricting.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, getting over the hump of starting the business! There is so much effort that goes into starting a business that requires grit and passion for staying committed and seeing it through. I feel accomplished in the growth I see in my business every year.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, it has been learning which items to release from my plate. I want my business to feel intimate, and it's important to me that I remain central to the production for sustainability but also to keep it feeling personal. As it grows, my goal is to maintain these ideals while intentionally passing some items off to others I trust and that hold the same level of passion for their craft.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

When things feel hard, zoom out to honor all your progress.
Hone in on something you are truly passionate about, as that will act as your drive over time.
Engage in your community! Connect and collaborate with other business owners.
