Tell us about yourself

Yes, We are Team Madeherselfaboss Co-Founders of this business, Brittany Onley and Shinika Crawley.

Bri: Though I was always interested in owning my own business, my main goal was to be in a position to fully control my time and income so that I could spend my fulfilled in every way I desired. I knew that I was creative and that I truly enjoyed creating content. When I took the leap, there were many reasons that made it "the perfect time," though all the risks and fears were still present. I had a sick parent I wanted to spend more time with; I hated my 9-5, and I knew deep down that my desired Career could and would be lucrative. I made a decision, and I haven't looked back. I'm driven every day by the mere fact that TIME is not promised, and I need to be in full control of my time and how I spend it. The fact that I get joy and healing even from working with the amazing business owners who hire me is a major plus!

Shi: I am an unapologetic Girl who loves God & Making Money! What got me started was seeing my mom struggling and questioning why women work so hard to make ends meet. I knew there was a better way, a way of grace and ease and not hustle and grind. I became fascinated with how to work less and make more money. I love business and how businesses grow, I am so intrigued. Shoot, I love money and making lots of it; as a matter of fact, it's "your birthright to make lots of money" So, helping women all over know that they are worthy of a business that serves them and their desires is what I do. My nieces and my desires for my life, and the impact I want to make in this world motivate me; they are a part of my why. And when you know your "WHY," your "WHAT" makes more sense.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Bri: I don't have a particular one that is more important than another. Every time a woman comes to us and is so thankful or touched by our content that she gets emotional, that's a win for me because it lets me know that we are helping. If it had to be an event, I'd say it was our Bossy Picnic last summer for existing entrepreneurs. We sold out of that event so quickly because the demand was so serious for the safe atmosphere we created for transformation to happen.

Shi: I couldn't have said it any better than that! It's when the women implement and see results for me! And know with grace and ease that making money in their business is easy, Or even the mindset shifts that happen in the room. I love hearing, "thank you guys for having the space for women like us to feel safe and learn while feeling supported at the same time."

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Bri: For me, ironically, the hardest part has been proper time management. As a business owner, you tend to work on your business beyond "business hours," especially as a creative. Navigating through business, as well as the other important aspects of life that I prioritize, is a welcomed challenge as I am always on the hunt to find ways to simplify my money-making process, my self-care, and my social life. Everyone can technically make money. It's a matter of having the knowledge, the determination, and the confidence to "show up." The ability to balance is a common problem I've seen amount many new business owners.

Shi: For me is reminding and remembering that at each level I grow to that you are worthy and deserving of it all. We tend to think when we get to the next level, it's pure bliss, and there is no fear. As a matter of fact, the fear gets louder. So remembering who you are and reminding yourself daily that you deserve to play at this level and beyond can be hard. Especially when you're playing small and you know you should be playing at a higher level, but you tend to get nervous. I think that is the hardest thing. #Mindset

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Clarity brings in the cash flow.
  2. Know your WHY because when you know your WHY, your WHAT makes more sense! Work on the six inches in between your ears so you can see and feel six figures or more in your hands.
  3. Get clear on the one audience you want to serve, the one problem you're solving, and the one clear solution that will help them. Tighten your messaging and marketing.
  4. Allow yourself to fail forward. Once you've let go of the fear of failure, you are able to show up fully, learn, and grow. The race is never over until you stop running in it, no matter how many times you stumble.
