Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adam McLeod, Franchise Owner of MADabolic, located in Plano, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

MADabolic is the first strength-based interval fitness studio franchise with best-in-class programming that builds lean athletic muscle and torches body fat. We attract former athletes and driven individuals who want proven results and value structure and accountability.

Tell us about yourself

I have been in the fitness business for 17 years running big box gyms across the country. I saw the trend in the fitness consumer post covid, moving to the more niched focused studios programs or high-volume, low-price gym models and leaving the big box gyms declining. I found MADabolic and was blown away by the level of detail and thought that goes into this scientific-based approach to focus on what actually works to get results for members as fast as possible. The value you receive getting true one-on-one coaching done in a group setting has no comparison. My main motivation has always been to get people healthy and fit, and this allows me the personal touch to impact hundreds of people on their fitness journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We just opened our first location in Plano in November and have signed on to open seven more locations in the Dallas, TX area and will be expanding into Charleston, SC, next year.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about running a business is finding the right people to fill the right roles on the team for scalability. We want to produce future leaders who take that owner-operating mentality that can help us grow the right way in multiple markets over the next five years.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research and make sure the business has future growth potential.
  2. Hire the right people.
  3. You must have the drive to ensure success. If everyone could do it, everyone would do it!
