What's your business, and who are your customers?

Maaji's Street Kitchen is a unique dining destination that offers a delicious and healthy dining experience to its customers. Our customers are food lovers and health-conscious individuals who appreciate high-quality, pure ingredients and sustainable options. They are individuals who value authenticity and creativity and are looking for a truly unique dining experience that caters to their dietary needs.

Whether you are a fan of classic Indian dishes or fusion cuisine or seeking gluten-free or vegan options, Maaji's has something for everyone. Our commitment to using only the freshest, organic, and non-GMO ingredients, and avoiding additives or thickeners in our dishes, sets us apart from other restaurants and makes us a sought-after destination for those seeking a healthier and more sustainable dining option.

Tell us about yourself

As a passionate cook and foodie, I have always been inspired by the diverse flavors and ingredients of Indian cuisine. However, I noticed a lack of healthy options in the market and realized I could offer my own twist on traditional home-style dishes. I started my business with the goal of providing a healthier alternative to the convenient options that dominate the market. My motivation stems from my love for cooking and my belief in the importance of nourishing one's body with wholesome ingredients. By incorporating my passion and personal touch into my offerings, I aim to bring authentic Indian flavors to my customers in a healthier way.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment has been being chosen by Feast Magazine as one of the top new restaurants in St. Louis for 2022. This recognition was particularly special as it was in the first year of operation for Maaji's Street Kitchen. This recognition was a validation of all the hard work, dedication, and passion I have put into my business, and it was a proud moment for me to receive such high accolades in such a short amount of time. It showed me that my efforts were being recognized and appreciated by the local community and beyond. Receiving this honor was a huge milestone for me, and it motivated me to continue working hard and striving for excellence in all aspects of my business. It's a moment I will cherish forever, and it serves as a testament to the fact that with hard work, dedication, and a passion for what you do, anything is possible.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part for me has been learning to strike a balance between my work and personal life. As someone who is passionate about my business and dedicated to providing high-quality food, it can be challenging to turn off my thoughts and focus on other aspects of my life. I often find myself consumed with work-related thoughts, even when I'm not physically in the kitchen. The hardest part for me is learning to wrap up the day and slow myself down in order to maintain a healthy work-life balance. I've realized that it's important for me to take time for myself and prioritize my mental and physical health in order to continue thriving as a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
