Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Luke Harlan, a transformational mindset coach and speaker based in Sparks, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help empower professionals to create their best and most purpose-driven life of impact and fulfillment with absolute clarity, confidence, and direction.

Tell us about yourself

I found myself feeling stuck, unfulfilled, and wanting more out of my life, but I was unsure how, as I was always chasing external solutions without success. So I set out to create a better life by first accepting that I was the one constant that had never changed and needed to. This put me on my path to discover how to shed the limiting beliefs that were holding me back and give myself the permission to embrace my gifts to be successful, which I now do for others fueling my purpose-driven mission.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping transform lives and free people's minds to become the best versions of themselves, creating impact and legacy.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Isolation. As the sole decision maker and leader of your business, you can easily become isolated as your position precludes you from sharing your challenges and the pressure of your obligations with subordinates, employees, etc. Finding a CEO or leader peer group will provide a necessary sanctuary for gaining perspective, advice, and direction.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Starting: Model what has already worked and simply make it your own. No need to be the first person through the minefield.
  2. Running: Set clear objectives and accountability measures. If you aren't tracking, you cannot validate efforts, scale, or pivot if necessary.
  3. Growing: Either acquire the skills or hire those with them in order to scale your business by multiplying the effort. You cannot do everything, nor should you. This is where your greatest value is working "ON" the business and not "IN" the business.
