Luke Always Over-delivers - Luke Ayers Media

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Luke Ayers, Founder of Luke Ayers Media, located in Sydney, NSW, AU.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an international professional photographer and filmmaker serving private and corporate clients.

Tell us about yourself

I found out in my early 20s that I could not do a job I wasn't passionate about. Photo and video are very appealing to me and inspirational. I wanted to continually improve myself in these areas and, at the same time, help others with beautiful works of art in these mediums as a form of income and superficial satisfaction. I sometimes do this work for free simply because I love it so much. That's how a career becomes the life you want to live.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Achieving the skill required to impress people anywhere I am with aesthetic images.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Balancing promotion with production to keep smooth the flow of new work and completed projects.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Perfect your skill/craft.
  2. Prove yourself with an attractive portfolio.
  3. Promote and make yourself known by all means necessary—over-deliver every time to guarantee repeat work and client retention.
