What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own and operate Loray Athletic Club; we service greater Gaston County and the surrounding by offering a premium fitness experience. We offer general membership, personal training, group fitness, as well as a host of other wellness services.
Tell us about yourself
Coaching and personal training (gym ownership) are all my dream job. This was always the goal; this was always the plan. I started personal training while attending Winston-Salem State University and was immediately hooked! I’m living my dream! This is the best job, and I get to do it with the best team in fitness.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to see my team’s dreams come true. They’re starting families and starting businesses; it’s all amazing! And being able to help facilitate that is the icing on the cake.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Every day presents a new set of challenges, and there is no figuring it out later. Most things require your attention and a decisive response.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself (you CAN do it).
- Trust your gut and be willing to use the help of others.
- Entrepreneurship is hard, but so is working in a job you don’t like. I choose running my own business.
