Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amir Ginsberg, Founder of LongevIQ, located in Honolulu, HI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an online community focused on evidence-based information in the areas of anti-aging medicine and longevity. Our mission is to empower people toward a happy, healthy, and long life by providing practical, educational, and inspirational content and helping them connect with qualified health practitioners.

Our platform enables clinicians, researchers, writers, and journalists to collaborate and share their expertise with the general public. We are very fortunate to work closely with some of the world's leading experts in longevity, anti-aging, integrative, precision, and functional medicine. Our team publishes the insights gained through these partnerships to help increase awareness via various channels. We are also expecting to release collaboratively created longevity protocols and anti-aging products during 2023.

Tell us about yourself

It all began when I experienced a health journey at a very young age that evolved into a major limiting factor affecting almost every aspect of my life. The conventional option at that time was medication to manage symptoms. I was told it was due to my genetics, there was no cure, and there was nothing I could do to improve my health. Something in me, however, just knew there had to be something out there I could do. So, I started to do my own research. As a computer scientist, I had access to various technologies and methodologies that helped me optimize the process of looking into very large and complex data. I started to connect with more and more medical experts that guided me along the way, uncovering multiple factors that, despite being extensively studied, were only known in limited circles. This wisdom shared with me turned out to be life-altering, and I was amazed at how better I felt. As a part of these discoveries, it also became clear to me that my story was not unique. In fact, it was much more common than I initially thought. There was and still is a huge gap between the level of health and wellness people could have and the actual reality where illness is the norm. Determined to make a difference in people's lives and empowered by my own experience, I decided to create our functional medicine community (FMD) that focuses on complex chronic conditions and, later on, our longevity healthy aging community (LongevIQ).

Through our work, we see new life-changing insights literally every day. Every day, we hear from people reporting that their health has been restored. With the return of their health, they also get their happiness and joy back. They have gotten their lives back. Knowing we played a humble part in their new state of health and wellness by sharing such knowledge fills us all with nothing but gratitude, love, and joy. And the more we learn, the more we realize the incredible potential we humans have and the kind of life we can all have.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We have experienced impressive growth in our community, health professionals and doctors, and people interested in healthy aging and longevity. More people are reaching out to us for help finding the right anti-aging doctor or clinic near them. On our website, not only can they find doctors according to their preferences, but they can also learn more about the doctor's approach and services by listening to our podcast with each practitioner.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

When you come up with a new innovative approach, an alternative to the traditional one or the norm, you may deeply believe it can make a difference. You may even have data to back it up. Still, it is reasonable that you'll get pushback from the mainstream. And sometimes, that resistance can be quite intense. Does it mean you should just accept it and change direction? Not necessarily.

In our research, we often explore cutting-edge approaches that, according to the data, may benefit our health and the way we age or live our lives. These approaches are far from being the norm, to say the least. We have found that working closely with medical experts that specialize in both the traditional and the new alternative ways and having an honest, unbiased conversation may help bridge that gap and pave the path moving forward.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I find asking these 3 questions very useful and often lead to interesting insights.

  1. Do you truly love what you want to do, or is it just a means to an end?
  2. Can you relate to and deeply understand your customers?
  3. What other solutions are already in place, and do you have a sense of how your business is going to fit in that environment? Will your business have a competitive edge? Something to think about before you start executing any business idea.
