Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in IV health but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chaz Faulhaber, owner and founder of Onus iV, located in Denver, CO.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Onus iV is an IV therapy brand specializing in customizable IV cocktails, IM shots, NAD, Â supplements and electrolytes all designed to help you live your best days. Our clients are typically proactive health-hackers, looking to get ahead or maintain different aspects of their health, from nutrient boosts to muscle recovery.
Tell us about yourself
I grew up in Saudi Arabia, and my bike was my favorite toy. Flash forward to 2013 when my wife and I were at a mountain bike race in Sedona, Arizona and heard about iV therapy as a recovery tool, post race. We tried it out and I remember looking out the window at the mountain and going, "I'm ready to ride that sucker again", which is usually unheard of.
From then on, we've presented this product and its ancillary services as tools to use to "Live Your Best Days". To me, it's the coolest thing ever, the idea of optimizing yourself, and my hope is that stopping by once, making that one healthy decision for yourself, will compound to help everyone make the next healthy choice!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
So far, it's been insane. We've had the privilege and continued trust of working with the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, countless musicians (some of whom I grew up listening to), and being featured in national press, such as Outside Magazine, US Weekly and Runner's World.
Bigger than any of that however has been the opportunity to work with Doctors, Nurses, Advanced Paramedics and EMTs, all of whom, I'm convinced, are some of the kindest, best people on the planet. It truly is a blessing that I get to work with them every day, and have learned untold truths of humanity through their lens. It's a gift, every day.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The lack of excitability. Not saying I don't get excited about what's to come, but like the old wise man said, whenever something goes well or goes wrong, my attitude these days is "We'll see."
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If you're a bad employee, maybe you'd be a great entrepreneur. If your gut doesn't feel right about something, it's probably good to listen. The golden rule applies at all times. Treat everyone, especially your employees, as you'd like to be treated.
Anything else you'd like to share?
Try not to get caught up in the entitlement trap. You may start a business, work really hard, and it'll fail. I've seen a ton of competitors get angry, blame the market or attack the competition. The thing with business is there is no "winner". There may be an asteroid headed your way, which is why you should pursue something that gives you daily joy, whether it's getting to hire people you genuinely respect, or sell a product that you absolutely love.
