Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leanne Costantino, Founder of Live Love Lead Coaching, located in Eastwood, NSW, Australia.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I support high-achieving entrepreneurs and business owners to be mentally agile and create sustainable work-life harmony by embracing practices of self-compassion to develop people to grow as great leaders and create human-centric cultures. Applying research-based methodologies, Live Love Lead Coaching utilizes embodiment practices to take people into the uncomfortable zone where growth happens. Fun and enjoyment are critical learning tools; combining this with viewing people as having holistic-wellbeing is a foundational cornerstone to creating transformational change in people's mindset, developing healthy habits, recognizing their sabotaging patterns, and expressing their emotions. Often my clients arrive wanting to simply up-skill as a leader, and we end up looking at their childhood upbringing, attachment style, masks like perfectionism, and heroes they wear with pride to uncover layers of the fabric of their identity to emerge as a calmer, more peaceful and fulfilled person living on purpose.
Tell us about yourself
Having completed a degree in Applied Science (Human Movement), my first job was in outdoor education, where I learned the wonderfully transformative skills of experiential learning in group settings. This was profound in my development as a leader in the corporate sector and providing sports/community services with the realization I have always been coaching others to live to their potential.
I started my business after having been exposed to a number of toxic workplace cultures with poor leadership, a lack of emotional intelligence, and a crushing human spirit. This was the incentive for me to bring about change so that workplaces are supportive, thriving, and collaborative, so people enjoy being at work and are values aligned.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been bringing on board a virtual assistant to support in areas that are not my strength. It's been giving myself permission that I don't have to be great at it all. This freedom has allowed greater creativity and more collaborations to happen with joint ventures as I can connect personally with others which lights me up and gives me energy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Working solo can be really depressing if you're used to bumping ideas off people, and so creating a virtual office with another coach in the last 12 months has been epic for accountability and meets my need for connection. Definitely, it's your energy management as well, finding a schedule that is aligned and works for you. Previously having a structured day in a workplace provided certainty, and as a business owner, the ability to take breaks, have fun, and get stuff done is so much better when it's shared!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top 3 tips for people with ideas for creating and having a new business is to do some market research and really get clarity on the problem you solve in your customer's words. Secondly would be to create a simple spreadsheet for your finances and complete it monthly so that this doesn't become the reason you give up; it motivates you to strive for your financial goals. Lastly, what you measure you can improve, so create a daily hit list of 3 identified actions that are critical to your business success and keeps you moving forward. Rain, hail, or shine, achieve these, and the journey will be awesome!
